I’m a high school special education teacher. I teach resource English and a transitions class that focuses on teaching skills my students will need as they transition into their postsecondary lives. I’m constantly looking for strategies to make my students better readers and writers and people in general. I’ve recently found the teachings of Donalyn Miller and Penny Kittle and look forward to incorporating a reader’s workshop/independent reading focus in my classroom in the upcoming school year.
